SANGRE DE MI SANGRE - Digital Embroidered Works

These works are inspired by the mix of Catholic and Indigenous collage work that takes over the streets of San Miguel de Allende in every festival, as well as the elaborate hairstyling of the youngest Mexican girls. I used mementos of my young daughters' growth and separations as elements of my work. Included as elements in these pieces are my daughter's birth in the moment before the first of many separations (cutting of the umbilical cord), fallen baby teeth, cut hair and portions of their hairstyles with bobbles. I use the process of digital collage to intricately weave these components together, creating new forms from the raw ingredients I collect with my camera.
